The Construct is one of the few places at RIT where you can do a 3D print for free. We offer every student 25 free grams of plastic for their first print to be used with personal projects as a way to test out 3D printing. Individuals cannot combine their free quotas to get larger prints for free. The prints must adhere to RIT policies failure to follow the rules will result in a ban from the lab.
Academic prints (e.g. Senior Design parts or prints required for a class), and prints that exceed the free quota cost a flat rate of $0.03/gram. This can be purchased using Tiger Bucks or paper money. If you are a professor who is considering using The Construct’s printers as part of your course, please contact us before doing so! Our ability to accommodate large classes is extremely limited.
Every individual is allowed to use only one printer at a time. Prints that will take longer than 5 hours must be started after 5 pm. Prints that will take longer than 16 hours must be approved by a lab manager.
